About me

I am a random guy from somewhere in Poznań (Poland).
I like travelling, I like trains and other types of public trasport. I also like cycling, which unfortunately is sometimes a problem when I want to combine it with train travel.
I have visited almost thirty countries in Europe (even more than thirty, if you count those whose territory I have touched with at least a single finger). I have travelled thousands of kilometres on trains and a further thousand as a public transport passenger. I have taken trams, buses, trolleybuses, metros, urban railways of various types, monorail railways, funinculars and other modes of transport in dozens of different cities. I enjoyed the Interrail ticket, the 9-Euro-Ticket, Polish ‘bilet turystyczny’, ‘Regiokarnet’, ‘Wspólny Bilet Samorządowy’ and other special offers. I have travelled throughout the whole of Poland more than once.
I have already become quite good at getting around by various modes of transport. Even so, transport companies can still sometimes surprise me (‘You didn't have to buy that ticket, it’s free anyway’) or annoy me (‘It’s – not – possible. If I say it’s not possible, it’s not possible!’).
It’s worth mentioning that almost every time I heard the message that ‘it’s-not-possible’, I later found out that it was actually possible. It just required a little more searching to find a possible solution (or really a lot of searching).
I want the next people who hear ‘it’s-not-possible’ to not have to spend a lot of time looking for a solution, but to be able to simply check on this website how to get around this ‘it’s-not-possible’.
I want to make it possible to find out in advance which routes don’t require a ticket, so that no one else has to be disappointed when they hear about it having already bought a ticket. I also want to collect in one place all such ‘tricks’ that allow you to travel by public transport as cheaply as possible (in this aspect, I am a typical stereotypical slightly over-savvy Poznań citizen).
I want to solve the problems of travelling by train with a bicycle, travelling on an international train, travelling in a sleeper car and all other types of travel requiring more planning; but I also want to present simple solutions to the problems you may encounter during the simplest journeys by public transport.
I want to present interesting facts that you can (and should!) encounter, and which sometimes are not so obvious.
In other words – I want to make public transport as accessible as possible for every passenger.
That is what I will try to do, and that is the reason why I have created this website. (Of course, this task should be mainly handled by the transport operators or organisers. However, sometimes they seem to need plenty of help with it…)
I am focusing mainly on Poland for several reasons. Firstly, I am not in a position to deal with transport all over the world – and on the other hand, if I were to limit myself to Poznań and its surroundings, not many people would find this website helpful. Secondly, I live in Poland and most often travel just in Poland – so I check various information concerning transport in Poland, and I am usually up to date with it. Thirdly – I have been speaking Polish since I was born (or to be more precise, since a little later), which enables me to check rules, tariffs and regulations of Polish transport companies in their original version.
However, I am not limited only to Poland, so foreign-related articles will appear on the site (especially in the Blog section).
There will also be a lot about international connections.
Besides – I like to take photos, and I like to ‘play with IT’, which is why I decided to run the site in this way (I do everything here myself). So this entire website is not only a place for me to pass on to the readers some ‘travel knowledge’ I have gained, but also a place for me to test and develop my photographic and IT skills – and well, my language skills.
PS. This page will be supplemented with lots of links to relevant articles. Check it regularly!
